Just a little catch up time and thinking out loud today...
Home - Since we've been living in our new home it's been more about finishing projects, finding how I like things set up, moving things around, organizing and then changing it all again until I find what works best for us. I've just been keeping up with the general cleaning as I go. Last Saturday I realized that even with the house clutter free and minimalist it really needed a good top to bottom deep cleaning. I came to realize after working full speed from 7am until after 7pm that it's almost impossible to do a full deep cleaning here in one day. I love my stone flooring throughout the house, but ever try vacuuming and mopping almost 3000 square feet of flooring? How about taking down curtains to wash that are hung 12 feet high? I need to come up with a rotating schedule for the heavy cleaning instead of waiting until it really needs it. I will also add that having three inside kitties adds a whole other side to cleaning!
Work - I have been so buried at work lately. It goes beyond a full plate, it's a whole freaking table and it's stacked to the ceiling! My desk has been piled so high that I'm surprised anyone can see me sitting there. So what do I do in the middle of it all? I interview for the job I've been filling in for that has me so buried - too late to turn back now. Only someone who is not quite right would go for this job after having a six month trial to see what it's really all about. All the additional work, stress, and responsibility definitely isn't worth the extra money it pays. I guess it comes down to my love of a good challenge - it's either that or maybe I've really lost my mind.
Rental House - Thanks for all the decorating ideas and suggestions for the beach house. I now have someone renting there through the summer just as it is, no need for decorating until later. This works well for me and gives me time to get other things in order before having to worry about it. I was also able to keep my large converted two car garage storage area there. That was going to be a big problem to try to get everything out and deal with it in such a short time - now we have months instead of days to deal with it. It's a relief.
Blogging World - I want to invite everyone over to my food blog Seaside Simplicity for a Super Bowl party. I've been on blog break there since I started blogging here at Minimalist in the Making, but can't resist a good Super Bowl party. Stop by to get some great ideas for your party and add your recipes to the link up too!
Health and Fitness - February is the month I call pre-training time. It's a time I start really focusing on healthy habits (some that I have let slide more than a bit lately) in preparation for going all out during March and April. Think about joining me - start stretching, walking, and paying attention to what you are eating. I will fill you in with more details soon!
Right Now - It's another beautiful, bright, sunny, and breezy Florida day - 78 degrees and perfect! I have the windows and doors wide open. I'm spending my day today catching up on cleaning, laundry, and some blogging in between. I also have bills and paperwork to do, a car to clean out and wash, hair to highlight, and a dog to bathe. I am planning a 5 mile walk with intervals this afternoon, and I'm hoping to find time for some contemplation this evening. I feel like I've been flying by the seat of my pants lately. I desperately need sometime to think, plan, rest, and let my mind catch up with everything that's been going on in my world.
What's been going on with you?

So nice to catch up with you, dear MM. Wow, you've have been busy enough for a half dozen women.
I've been busy with the start of choir season and tournament soccer for the boys. Work has also been busy with so many sick folks and families to help, but like you, I love a challenge.
I am so glad your rental is working out, that's great. I've been busy around the house too and I have to take down my curtains, only 8 feet, no big deal ;oD. We also got a new bed and new roof last month, ka-ching! We are having a new vanity put in the upstairs bathroom, so lots going on. Plus, a Superbowl party tomorrow. Lots going on. ((HUGS)) and thanks again, M
Think & rethink about the new(worse, in some ways?)job. With all the time you will spend doing it, how much of that time will you be miserable or close to miserable?
It may be a bit of the saboteur to your minimalism goals. ~Mary
Wow! Just reading this made me tired! I totally understand the challenges that cats can bring to cleaning... dust bunnies anyone? Personally, I think you should take it easy on yourself. There is no reward for "doing it all."
In terms of exercise plans... my plan for the day involves shoveling snow, LOTS of snow!
I am right there with you on your pledge for health and fitness. I have made the commitment to move my body more and eating healthy, which includes juicing every day. I’d love to share recipes with you.
Thanks for the inspiration.
You sound super busy, Martha; I can see how it would be hard to keep the house clean! That is a lot of floor to clean! I bet you hardly have a chance to breathe some days! It gets overwhelming, I am sure, going from day to day like that! Do take some time for juts yourself (I know, easier said than done!).
We're "stocked" to the gills here since son moved back in, but planning "massive" 2-day garage sale last weekend of this month. I had to laugh, hubby asked me "do you think we have enough for a two day sale?" I'll be surprised if we don't have enough for five separate 2-day sales!
do take care of yourself!
betty
Martha@Sense of Humor - Thanks. I feel like I've been as busy as a dozen women over these last 2 years! Hoping to start seeing some light at the end of the tunnel soon. I try to look at all the progress I've made instead of looking at all that still needs to be done. Sure sounds like you have been busy too!
Mary - It's too late to turn back now. Since I first started thinking about it I've been telling myself I should listen to Mary. You were the only one who suggested I take the time and freedom over the extra money. But did I listen? No. I'm already kicking myself!
EcoCatLady - The kitty dust bunnies are bad enough but I have one short haired cat that's even worse - her hair just flies through the air and sticks to everything ugh! I try to take it easy on myself when I can, but things have to get done one way or another! Hope you got a good workout shoveling snow today ;-)
Eydie - I'm glad to hear you have made the pledge for health and fitness too. I will be sharing what I'm working on each week for Motivation Monday. Looking forward to hearing about your progress too!
Betty - I sure have been super busy, but that's nothing new these days. I'm so excited to hear you have the big garage sale planned for this month. You must really be working hard too! I can't wait to hear how it goes :)
Stone floors? Easy, just bring in a pressure washer (ha ha).
Sounds like you are burning it at both ends. Don't forget to take care of yourself while you are taking care of everyone else's needs.
Chris - Ha! Thanks for the suggestion, I have thought the same thing especially since I have the same stone flooring on the front patio and do take the pressure washer to it every couple weeks. You would think by now we would have pressure washer friendly interiors. We should invent it together, we'd make billions! :)
